Introduction to Mr. Rojas' Class
Throughout the year, students will need to be accessing this website for help with scheduling time for homework and understanding assignments. We will begin the 2017 - 2018 school year with an introduction to what will be required for CCCS students to succeed and earn participation in end of the year privileges and the graduation ceremony. The 8th Grade Teachers have agreed that Graduation is earned when students have no F's in any class, no more than one D and no U's in their citizenship grade. Participation Grades are determined by classroom behavior and activity involvement including being on task, having supplies, bringing materials, working with group members and behaving appropriately on the CCCS campus at all times.
Rules to Be Aware of...
Students should be aware that CCCS's U.S. History class will be a rigorous preparation for High School, College and Life.
A New Seating Chart will be implemented to calculate Participation Grades. 30 points Per week will be Given with points removed for infractions and awarded for positive behaviors.
A 1 out of 5 will be earned in the Second Semester for incomplete Homework and Classwork.
Classwork will be concluded with an exit ticket nearly every meeting and students will not be dismissed until their work is complete to the Teacher's satisfaction.
Adherence to school and classroom rules and Bear Basics will be strictly enforced with detentions or CCCS community service being served for infractions.
Students who are unprepared for class will be issued infraction warnings that may add up to referrals/detention. These include, but are not limited to: Forgetting things, No Supplies/Materials, No homework, talking out of turn, wasting class time and other off task behavior, Breaking Protocols or procedures, shirking responsibilities, Bullying and other Negative Behavior, etc.
The assignment of work and the expectation to be on task is the first warning and any off task behavior will quickly receive a 2nd warning with students writing their name on the board. Any infraction afterwards will incur in-class community service, an office referral and/or either 7 AM or after-school detention depending on my schedule.
Please make sure both Students and Parents are aware of these changes...
To Begin, 8th Graders who can't complete HomeWork Assignments will have their names put on the Board and possibly earn Lunch Time and After School Detention with Mr. Rojas, regardless of Prior Commitments including After-School Sports, Theatre Club or other Enrichments, BBP, or Parents' Pick-Ups,until they learn the importance of completing their assignments. In the 2nd Semester, Incomplete HomeWork will earn a possible 1 out of 5 points, so the time is nigh to learn to complete ones' HomeWork as instructed.
